Germany’s football association has secured the international future of highly-rated centre-back Nnamdi Collins, effectively preventing Nigeria from capping him for the Super Eagles. The defender, who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt, made his senior debut for Germany in their opening UEFA 2026 World Cup qualifier against Slovakia in Bratislava. Since it was a competitive fixture, Collins is now officially tied to Germany under FIFA rules.

Born in Düsseldorf, the defender was previously eligible to represent Nigeria through paternal heritage. However, having turned 21 this year on January 10 he is now ineligible for any of national allegiance.
